Training

The Bay Area Volunteer Lawyers Program offers free training in a variety of practices and specialties to meet the needs of volunteer attorneys. The following free trainings are available through our Program.

Guardian Advocacy A-Z Training is offered to train pro bono and legal aid attorneys how to prepare for and present a Guardian Advocacy case. A commitment to handle a pro bono case within 12 months is required. Mentor assistance provided. This training has 6.0 General CLE credits, including 1.0 ethics.

No Place Like Home… If You Can Prove Title (Disaster Relief Training) prepares attorneys to handle pro bono title issues for both real property and mobile homes. A commitment to handle a pro bono case within 12 months is required. Mentoring will be provided to assist attorneys upon completion of the training.

Basic Family Law Training is designed to prepare non-family law attorneys to handle pro bono low income family law matters. Materials and mentoring will be provided to assist the attorney after the training. A commitment to handle a pro bono case within 12 months is required. This training has 6.0 General CLE credits.

It Takes a Village…Relative Caregiver Training is designed to prepare attorneys to handle pro bono relative caregiver actions and provide information regarding other alternatives such as adoption, guardianship and dependency. Materials and mentoring will be provided to assist the attorney after the training. A commitment to handle a pro bono case within 12 months is required. This training has 3.5 General CLE credits.
